The most famous South Korean Boy Band – BTS, just dropped their new English single – BUTTER on May 21. Their video has once again broken the YouTube premiere record with a whooping premiere viewership with over 28 million views in less than 2 hours.
Butter’ is a dance pop track brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS and a tribute to BTS . The song is co-written by BTS’ RM, Rob Grimaldi, Stephen Kirk, Ron Perry, Jenna Andrews, Alex Bilowitz, and Sebastian Garcia.
According to reports, RM, V, Jin, J-Hope, SUGA, Jung Kook and Jimin broke not one, but three records as soon as they dropped the song.
The track is the band’s second English-language song after 2020’s smash-hit, ‘Dynamite’.
Speaking about the song at the ‘Butter’ global press meet, Jimin said, “With the title ‘Butter’, you know the song is for easy listening. ‘Smooth like Butter’ is a cute song that will melt into you. It is smooth, charismatic and we have tried to put all these feelings into it.”
Speaking to Apple Music, BTS’ RM said of “Butter”: “We never actually expected that we were going to release another single, but the virus is getting longer and longer so we thought we need another summer song. We thought we needed another summer number, and Butter was perfectly fit for that. And now we’re here.”
Social media is flooded with ARMY showering love and expressing their views about the song. One Twitter user wrote, “can we all agree that BUTTER = SONG OF THE YEAR.” Another user wrote, “I was going through a difficult time, but today when I heard the song Butter. I felt happy and smiled really when I saw your faces and felt happy, thank you guys, you are always in my heart and beside me.”
The boys will take over the Billboard Music Awards stage to perform the song LIVE for the first time on May 24. BTS is nominated for four categories – Top Duo/Group, Top Social Artist, Top Songs Sales Artist, and Top Selling Artist.
