Canadian actor Elliot Page and choreographer Emma Portner are soon calling quits. Elliot has recently come out as transsexual and decided to separate from wife Emma. The 33-year-old Oscar-nominated Juno star had married the latter three years ago in January 2018. Their relationship soured just a month after Elliot came out in the open as a transsexual and nonbinary.
Last month, the actor took to Instagram and wrote: “I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”
After Elliot came out, Emma wrote in support of Elliot: “Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
In a joint statement release by the duo, they revealed that they have been separated since last summer and are awaiting for the divorce proceedings to begin.
Elliot Page is best known for his roles in Juno, The Tracey Fragments, Whip It, Super, Inception, and Tallulah. The actor was nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Juno.
