King of romance, actor Shah Rukh Khan, had once opened up about his views on how a man should dress in front of female friends and family members. In an old interview with Femina India, the actor talked about his boys, Aryan and AbRam.
“I’m bringing up my sons to treat all as equals; as boys, they will have no extra privileges over girls. Sometimes I’m a bit conservative. I believe that a man in his house doesn’t have the right to go shirtless in front of his mother, sister or women friends. I tell Aryan to put on a T-shirt all the time.”
Talking about the importance of gender equality, the actor told that his sons do not have any extra privilege over his daughter. He highlighted the fact that if women are not expected to go shirtless then men should follow the same. “If you’d feel uncomfortable seeing your mother, daughter, sister, women friends without their clothes on, why would you expect them to accept you shirtless?” Shah Rukh Khan had said. “It’s got nothing to do with having breasts or not-don’t do something a girl can’t do,” he had added.
It was not the first time when King khan spoke on gender equality. During an old interview with the media, Shah Rukh Khan shed light on how the fees differ between male and female actors. He said that “It’s a male-dominated industry. You can’t shirk it away or ignore it. I would love it to be different. There should be no disparity. A male actor and a female actor should get the same fees – why is it different, I don’t know.”
