Internationally acclaimed director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s feature film Doob: No Bed of Roses released on the popular OTT platform – Netflix a day ago. Soon after the release, the film secured the first spot on Netflix’s Top 10 most-watched films in Bangladesh.
Farooki expressed his gratitude through a Facebook post. The filmmaker wrote: “Thank you, Bangladesh for making Doob (No Bed of Roses) today’s (February 6) most viewed content on Netflix from Bangladesh!”
He added: “Every film is a labor of love. Some are just more than that. This film is very close to my heart for many reasons! Someday I might be able to write why!”
Doob is an India-Bangladesh joint venture bankrolled by Jaaz Multimedia and Eskay Movies, with Irrfan Khan as a co-producer.
The film features Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Irrfan Khan, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra in the lead roles.
Irrfan plays the role of Javed Hasan – an accomplished director. He faces several challenges in life while going through a midlife crisis when he meets his daughter’s childhood friend whom he later marries. This creates a national scandal and chaos in their personal relationships.
Though the release of the film was banned in Bangladesh, it won many awards in several international film festivals. At present, Farooki is currently shooting for a web series for an OTT platform.
