Late illustrious actor Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar and son Babil Khan recently attended a special screening of his film Paan Singh Tomar at the International Film Festival of India, 2021 that’s taking place in Goa.
This was the first public appearance of the mother-son duo after the actor’s death last year. The film was screened as a tribute to the late actor. Sutapa expressed her gratitude to IFFI and in a moving speech said the event has given her ‘the closure’.
An emotional Sutapa said the event takes her back to the theatre days when she would have long conversations with Irrfan. She also adds: “I remember Irrfan had dreams in his eyes. It’s a special moment because it’s an honour and privilege to be given a tribute. I’m happy to be here, this is the first time I’ve come out of home. But one needs closures to walk ahead, and IFFI is a closure.”
Babil has been often sharing throwback pictures with her father on Instagram. He posted a video of the IFFI event and some pictures captioned: “I was raised by two legends, not one.”
Known for his performances in films like Hindi Medium, Maqbool, 7Khoon Maaf, Angrezi Medium, Piku among many others, Irrfan lost his battle to cancer last year thereby leaving a huge void in the Bollywood industry.
