Sandalwood actor and former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant Jayashree Ramaiah was found dead in her residence, in Bengaluru on Monday. As per reports, the actor died by suicide. Her close aides say the actor was going through depression and was under treatment.
Jayashree was a contestant in Bigg Boss Kannada Season 3. However, her acting career did not see any growth after her participation in the reality show. She was reportedly unhappy about this and often spoke about it to her friends and family.
On June 24, 2020, Jayashree had opened up about feeling suicidal in a post on Facebook. The actor spoke about her mental health condition twice on social media spaces. On one occasion, she wrote on Facebook that she was done with battling depression and was tired of the world. She posted a goodbye message but later deleted the post and said she’s safe and fine. On another occasion, she posted went live on Facebook where she spoke about her battle with depression and self harm.
She said: “I am not doing all of this for publicity sake. I am not expecting financial help from Sudeep sir as well. I am only expecting my death as I am unable to battle depression. I am financially strong but depressed. I have been going through a lot of personal issues. I have been betrayed since childhood and unable to overcome it. I am a loser I need mercy killing.”
However, Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep managed to console her and she was fine for some time. However, depression again took its toll on her and she isolated herself from her friends and family, a close source quoted.
On Monday, the actor stopped responding to calls and messages and was later found hanging in her residence. A case has been registered with Madanayakanahalli police station.
