A widely loved collaboration has come together after 19 long years. Yes, you heard that right. Ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and top notch music director Ismail Darbar are reuniting to work for their forthcoming series Heera Mandi.
It has been reported that Heera Mandi will star Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Manisha Koirala. Apart from these actors, many other actors will also be featured in the series the casting of which is already underway.
Coming back to the Bhansali and Darbar pair, the duo first worked together in the Bollywood blockbuster film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Darbar had also won a National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the 1999 romantic-drama. The film starred Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ajay Devgn in the lead.
They next collaborated for the classic film Devdas starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. This was almost two decades back. Fans are now waiting for the magic that the duo is set to create with Heera Mandi.
“Considering the subject of the show, music will play a pivotal role in the narrative and Sanjay Leela Bhansali feels Ismail Darbar will do complete justice to it. SLB himself has a great ear for music and has already started brainstorming with Darbar on a few ideas,” a close source asserted.
The pre-production of the series has already begun and is expected to roll in April. At present, Bhansali is working on Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi.
