Kannada actor Ragini Dwivedi has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in the Sandalwood drugs scandal.
As per reports, the court said the drugs found were of small quantity and not for commercial transactions. This order comes as a great relief to the actor who has spent 140 days behind the bars. The court however added that this order will not in any way affect the ongoing trial.
The 30-year-old actor was arrested on September 4, 2020 along with two more people by the Crime Branch in Bengaluru which is probing the drug menace case rampant in the Kannada film industry. The actor was accused of having links with international ring involved in supplying psychedelic drugs at rave parties and other events. She was charged under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
“Ragini Dwivedi has been arrested and taken into custody,” Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said in a statement. The CCB had carried out searches at Ragini Dwivedi’s residence.
