Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa is facing the wrath of radical protestors and Khalistanis. This comes after the musician posted a picture in an Indian Army’s uniform and said he’s a proud Indian and respects his country. The pro-rightist Twitterati started bullying the singer with smears and name-calling on social media and went on a complete rampage.
It may however be noted that, Randhawa has always been supporting the farmers’ protest but has not been as vocal as other celebrities like Diljit Dosanjh, Jass Manak, Ranjit Bawa and others. He has always called for negotiation between the government and the protestors.
The singer believes that a solution will come only when there is dialogue between the two parties and not mindless agitation. Following the protests on January 26, Randhawa had tweeted saying: “My most special character. Respect Indian Army. Soldiers are our heroes. Proud Indian and blessed to be born here.”
This tweet received severe backlash and he was accused of standing up for the wrong. This reaction of certain interest groups hints that the ongoing protests in no way is related to reforms in the farm laws but is a mere tool to disturb the peace and harmony of the country.
