India’s overall Covid case count rose to 2.81 crore on June 1 morning with 1.27 lakh new infections, the lowest daily rise since April 9. The country is now witnessing a drop in cases over the amid a battle against the second Covid wave.
For the first time in 43 days, the active caseload is below 20 lakh as the cases went down by 1.30 lakh in 24 hours, the biggest fall in the last one week, as per data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
India’s positivity rate, which has been below 10 per cent for over a week now, stood at 6.6 per cent this morning.
2,795 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours the lowest since April 27, taking the toll to 3,31,895.
The mortality rate also rose to over a 6-week high of 1.18 percent, the data updated at 8 am showed.
In terms of recovery, 2,55,287 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose to 2,59,47,629. The recovery rate increased to 92.09 per cent and the daily positivity rate dipped to 6.62 per cent, the data stated.
