Olivia Ibbitson, a 21-year-old girl who resides in Norfolk, has been fighting against her ill-habits. Olivia had struggled to control her alcohol intake, as she started boozing from the age of 15 with her friends, but soon she found herself in a really unhealthy situation. The first lockdown forced her to confront her drinking problem and she went cold turkey and dropped almost 5st. Now she believes that Covid-19 has saved her life. She suffered from Type 1 diabetes and was almost going to be dead. In 2019, after over-drinking alcohol, she collapsed due to alcohol poisoning and pneumonia and went into a coma for two days. She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The world went under lockdown in March 2020. Olivia started losing weight and her life took a healthy turn. There wasn’t a day where Olivia did not get high, and there came a point where she started hating the way she looked and started losing friends due to her bad behaviour.
Olivia said, “From the age of 15, I used to drink quite a lot. When I got to about 18 or 19, I was drinking every single day. I have Type 1 diabetes so I become very unwell.”
Olivia would drink two bottles of wine before leaving the house on a night out and relayed on fast food when she was hungry. After facing endless months at home, alone and drunk, she finally felt that her life needed a twist. “As we entered a lockdown, I noticed I’d put on weight, I was a size 16 and weighed 14st 2 Ibs. Lockdown was my chance to take advantage of the fact I was stuck inside and couldn’t go out as easy to drink,” she said.
