Mamata Banerjee must become a member of the legislative assembly in order to keep her job as Chief Minister of West Bengal. According to TMC sources, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will run in the by-election in Bhawanipore. Shobhan Dev Chattopadhyay, a senior leader and MLA from Bhawanipore, has resigned from his position as MLA.
“I have enquired from him if he has resigned voluntarily and without coercion. I am satisfied, and I have accepted his resignation,” West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee told news agency ANI.
Sovandeb Chatterjee, speaking about the verdict, said: “Bhawanipore had twice voted for CM. All of the party leaders discussed it, and when I learned she wanted to run for this seat, I decided to resign because there was no pressure. Nobody else has the guts to lead the nation. I had a conversation with her. It was her seat, and I was simply defending it “..
Despite achieving a huge victory with the TMC’s victory in the recent assembly election, Mamata Banerjee lost the Nandigram seat to former protege Suvendu Adhikari in a surprising turn of events.
Suvendu Adhikari was said to be trailing by 1,200 votes on counting day, but by evening, the tide had turned in his favour, and he had defeated TMC supremo by a margin of 1,953 votes.
CM Mamata had alleged that manipulations were done in Nandigram counting. She said accepting the verdict that “I will move the Court because I have information that after the declaration of results, some manipulations were done and I will reveal those.”The next day, Mamata Banerjee spoke to the media, claiming that she had received an SMS from someone claiming that the Returning Officer of Nandigram had written that “if he allows recounting, his life will be threatened.”
“Governor also thanked me during the four-hour server outage. All abruptly changed “Following the threat claim, CM Mamata said.
