Singer Arijit Singh’s mother Aditi Singh, who was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 for quite some time, has breathed her last at a hospital at AMRI Hospital, Dhakuria on May 19.
Aditi Singh was admitted with COVID and was put on ECMO. The 34-year-old singer’s mother was tested negative for COVID-19 on May 17, however, she succumbed to a cerebral stroke.
“She passed away last night around 11 pm. Singh, admitted with COVID, was put on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). She tested negative on Monday but succumbed to a cerebral stroke last night,” read an official statement issued by the medical establishment.
Arijit’s mother’s condition first came to light when many celebrities, including Srijit Mukherji and Swastika Mukherjee, took to their social media to request everyone to donate blood for her.
Family members took her mortal remains to their home at Jiaganj in Murshidabad on May 20 morning around 5 am.
Recently on a Facebook post, Arijit had expressed his gratitude to healthcare personnel for leading the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. He also urged his followers to donate plasma for COVID-19 patients.
