Unidentified armed men shot dead IndiGo airline’s station manager at Patna airport in front of his apartment on Shankar Path at Punaichak under Shashtri Nagar police station area on Tuesday morning. The manager has been identified as Rupesh Kumar Singh (42).
The police has constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the crime. According to sources, the assailant has been caught in one of the CCTVs at the spot.
He had returned from airport after duty and had just stopped his SUV in front of apartment named Kusum Vilas for the guard to open main gate when bike-borne criminals fired at him. Police said criminals pumped at least six to seven bullets in Rupesh’s chest from window of the driving seat.
He later succumbed to his injuries.
The locality where the killing took place is surrounded by residences of VIPs, busy market and major government offices.
Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav alleged that “power-protected” criminals murdered IndiGo’s Patna airport manager outside his residence. “He was affable and friendly. I am deeply saddened by his untimely death. May his soul rest in peace. Now criminals are running the government in Bihar,” he tweeted.
BJP leader Vivek Thakur said the killing of IndiGo station head was sad and serious. He said the police should reach a conclusion in the case in the next few days or hand it over to CBI.
