Jiah Khan

The BBC has released a three-part investigative documentary on Jiah Khan, who was found dead at her Mumbai residence in 2013, at the age of 25.

She had appeared in hit films like Nishbad, Ghajini, and Houseful. Her death was said to be a suicide, but her mother Rabiya had said that she was murdered, and pointed fingers at Jiah Khan’s boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi who was also an actor and son of a known actor, producer and playback singer.

Sooraj Pancholi was also named in a suicide note found at Jiah’s residence. The three-part documentary was released only in UK and featured three episodes on January 11, followed by the next two episodes over the next two days. The documentary was about her demise and various theories that cropped up during the course of the investigation. Sooraj Pancholi appeared in the second episode of the documentary series, in which he repeated that he was innocent.

He revealed that he was with Jiah for five months, and also said that Jiah had spoken about her being in depression. “This is not a suicide, this is a murder. I’m just telling the court, please find out who the murderer is, and acquit us from this abetment to suicide (charge),” Sooraj’s father, Aditya Pancholi, said in a trailer for the series.
