According to The Indian Express, most states have backed the CBSE’s proposal to hold the Class 12 Board examination for only 19 major subjects in a compressed format in July-August.
Several states, including Kerala, Assam, Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Meghalaya, have urged the Centre to vaccinate teachers and students as soon as possible to ensure their safety.
“The priority of the Government is to conduct all the examinations in a safe and secure environment,” Singh said after the meeting.
All states have been asked to provide written input by May 25. This effectively rules out any statement about the cancellation of this year’s CBSE Class 12 examination for the time being. Owing to the second phase of the pandemic, the Class 10 Board test has already been cancelled.
Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Assam and Tamil Nadu were among the states that supported holding the Board examinations in the shortened format, as per sources.
