One of the owners of the famous ‘Muchhad Paanwala’ shop in Mumbai, Ram Kumar Tiwari, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with its probe into a drugs case.
Located at Kemps Corner in South Mumbai, the paan shop is frequented by Bollywood celebrities, businessmen and industrialists.
As per NCB sources, an NDPS substance was seized from Muchhad Paanwala’s shop.
Ram Kumar Tiwari and his brother Jaishankar Tiwari, both owners of Muchhad Paanwala shop, were summoned for questioning on Monday, and on Tuesday, Ram Kumar Tiwari was arrested.
Tiwari’s name had surfaced during the probe into a drugs case in which three persons, including a British national, were taken into custody with 200 kg of drugs from Khar and Bandra areas on Saturday.
Earlier on January 9, the NCB had arrested a British national and two women, and seized 200kg of drugs from their possession in Khar and Bandra areas of Mumbai.
The drugs seized from the trio included ganja, imported contraband like ‘OG Kush’ (a strain of cannabis indica), and curated marijuana, some of which had been sourced from the US.
The NCB has alleged that the trio was supplying imported varieties of ganja in Mumbai.
