India recorded 211,298 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Deaths from the disease rose by 3,847. The country’s total cases now stand at 27,369,093, while total fatalities are at 315,235, according to data updated by the Union health ministry.
A total of 33,69,69,352 samples have been tested up to May 26 with 21,57,857 samples tested in last 24 hours, said Indian Council of Medical Research.
The daily positivity rate stands at 9.79% and has been less than 10% for three consecutive days.
On the other hand, the recoveries have surpassed the new cases again with 2,83,135 more people getting discharged. The number of discharges has now gone up to 2,46,33,951.
The national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 90.01%.
As a result, there are the active cases have further reduced to 24,19,907, which is now 9.19% of the total infections.
The six most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5,650,957), Karnataka (2,472,973), Kerala (2,395,590), Tamil Nadu (1,911,496), Uttar Pradesh (1,677,508), and Andhra Pradesh (1,609,105).
