Ambulances and vehicles transporting Covid-19 patients from Andhra Pradesh were refused entry into Telangana on Friday at the state’s border.
In a quote, Suryapet Superintendent of Police (SP) R. Bhaskaran said that all ambulances and personal vehicles coming from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana for Covid care were being tested. Only those with a hospital appointment and an authorization pass from the Director of Health Covid control centre will be allowed into Telangana for care.
He went on to say that people must have both documents before coming to Telangana.
Ambulances from Andhra Pradesh were stranded for hours at Garikapadu’s checkpoint.
A woman said that she had been stuck at the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana border in Gadwal since 4 a.m.
“We’ve been stopped since 4 a.m. The reporters assisted me just as oxygen was about to run out. I returned to Kurnool and loaded an ambulance with oxygen before returning. And with this oxygen, the duration is only two hours “said the lady.
