According to the Union health ministry’s dashboard on Friday, India has 186,364 new instances of Covid-19, the lowest in 44 days. The death toll has risen to 315,235 after 3,660 people died from the virus in the last 24 hours. After Friday’s additions, the total number of people registered in India is 27,555,457.
It also showed that recoveries continued to outnumber daily new cases for the fifteenth straight day, with 259,459 patients recovering from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. According to health ministry estimates, the recovery rate has risen to 90.34 per cent, with the weekly positive rate at 10.42 per cent. The total number of cases open has decreased to 2,343,152.
India’s Covid-19 tally surpassed the 20 lakh mark on August 7 of last year. On August 23, it surpassed the 30 lakh mark, followed by the 40 lakh mark on September 5 and the 50 lakh mark on September 16. Last year, it topped 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. On May 4 of this year, India reached the dreadful milestone of 20 million Covid-19 cases.
