A joint team of police, Army and Central Police Reserve Force personnel shot down three militants during an ongoing operation in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said, three bodies were found at the encounter site in Vailoo area of Kokernag belt in south Kashmir’s Anantnag. “The encounter started early in the morning when the hiding militants refused to surrender,” the police said.
The identity and affiliation of the three slain is being ascertained, the police added. A joint team of police, Army’s 19 RR and CRPF are carrying out the operation. “The search is on in the area,” the police said.
As the forces closed in on the suspects, the militants fired on them, leading to a gunfight.
