Delhi Traffic Police on June 11 fixed the speed limits for different categories of motor vehicles and violating the same can lead to people incurring heavy fines.
“We’ve revised speed limit under 4 classifications. For M1 category vehicles, the max speed limit is 60-70 kmph. We’ve made cabs/taxis speed limit at par with cars after this notification,” said Meenu Choudhary, Joint CP Traffic to the media.
“Where the speed limit for cars are at 50 kmph, the speed limit for two-wheelers will be at 50 kmph but where the cars speed limit is 70kmph, for two-wheelers it is 60kmph,”Joint CP Traffic further said.
On all roads inside residential and commercial markets, the maximum speed limit for cars and bikes will be 30 km/hr.
The government has also capped the maximum speed limit for buses, tempo, and three-wheelers at 40 km/hr.
The order shall be published for the information of the general public in the official gazette and by affixing a copy on the notice boards of the office of all District Deputy Commissioner of Police and all Police Stations in Delhi/New Delhi, the notification read.
