Spiderman star Tom Holland spilled the beans about his honest reaction when he secured the role iconic part back in 2015. While speaking with fellow MCU actor Daniel Kaluuy in a recent interview given for Variety‘s Actors on Actors series, Holland revealed the entire audition process before making to Marvel Movies was strenuous as its was a 7-month long press which took a toll on the actor. He termed the process ‘horrible’. And babbled out a secret that it was through social media that he first got to know that he gobbled the part for Spiderman. Even after appearing for screen tests with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, the superstar was still somewhere uncertain of making into the movie.
While casting his mind back Tom said “I type in ‘Marvel.’ I’ve still got the article saved on my computer,” Tom remembered. “It said, ‘We would like to introduce our new Spider-Man, Tom Holland.’ I broke my computer, because I flipped it up in the air. It fell off my bed; my dog went nuts.” He added that he went downstairs and screamed with his family while celebrating his new part. Shortly after, the studio called Holland and gave him the news. While being candid about his experience he stated “it was so bizarre.”
On a humorous note, Harry, Holland ‘s brother was skeptical even after the news stormed on social media. He thought that the Marvel and/or Sony had been hacked. But it didn’t take long for the Marvel Movies to formally approach Tom and confirm the news.
Tom went on to give phenomenal performances in Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War , Spider-Man: Homecoming which was released in July 2017, Avengers: Infinity War in 2019, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
