Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday hit out at Hollywood singer Rihanna for coming out in support of the ongoing farmers protest in Delhi. The protest had commenced in November 2020 against the Indian government’s agricultural laws.
Kangana lashed out at the protesters and termed them as ‘terrorists’. The Queen actor in her tweet said the farmers are trying to divide the country and called Rihanna a ‘fool’. Kangana also whiplashed a Twitter user for digging out the actor’s old post where she had lauded Rihanna’s music.
The actor is a strong supporter of the ruling BJP and has been extremely vocal about her dislike for the ongoing protest that has posed questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance.
The Tanu Weds Manu actor had in between faced a temporary Twitter suspension for defaming certain web series creating major uproar among people. However, it seems Kangana has now taken to herself to label the farmers’ protest misguided, motivated and against national interest.
A tiff had also broken out between the actor and Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh over the protest that is an outcome of the new policies that say the farmers will be left at the mercy of large corporations and override safeguards against being cheated.
Kangana had also faced widespread backlash for mistaking a protester at the rally as Bilkis Bano, known as one of the ‘Shaheen Bagh dadis’ and alleging she joined the protest for Rs 100.
Internet services in Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri were suspended on Saturday. The order by the Home Ministry had come over the weekend, days after sections of a tractor parade in Delhi by farmers on Republic Day strayed from agreed routes, triggering clashes with the police that left dozens injured and one protester dead.
