The meeting of five All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen legislators with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday, ostensibly to discuss the development of Seemanchal region, has sparked speculation in the political corridors. The MLAs of AIMIM also reiterated to offer support to Nitish Kumar if the latter walks out from alliance with BJP.
Led by AIMIM state president and MLA Akhtar-ul-Iman, all the five legislators, including Mohammed Azhar Asfi, Shahnawaz Alam, Syed Rukunuddin and Azhar Nayeemi reached 1, Anne Marg, residence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with JDU leader and Bihar minister Vijay Chaudhary.
However, it is not clear what was discussed between the two sides during the meeting.
AIMIM leader Mohammed Adil Hasan claimed that they met Nitish Kumar to discuss the development of Seemanchal from where all the five legislators of Owaisi’s party had won. Adil also said they had no aversion with Nitish Kumar but with BJP. He said Asaduddin Owaisi was always willing to join hands with Nitish Kumar if he broke away from BJP.
“We have met Nitish Kumar to discuss the development of Seemanchal. We do not have any problems with Nitish Kumar but with BJP. If Nitish Kumar walks out of NDA, we are willing to join hands with him. We will continue to meet Nitish Kumar in the future as well,” said Mohammed Adil Hasan, AIMIM leader.
Interestingly, the lone BSP MLA Jama Khan had joined Janata Dal United last week along with independent legislator Sumit Singh. Also, LJP MLA Raj Kumar Singh had met with Nitish Kumar triggering speculations of him also shifting loyalty.
Now, the meeting of AIMIM legislators with Bihar Chief Minister has triggered speculations in political circles whether Nitish’s party is eyeing the five AIMIM legislators.
