After neighbours complained about a pet tiger running around a Houston neighbourhood, a US man who had been released on bail on a murder charge was arrested again on Monday.
In a 54-second video posted on social media, a Bengal tiger was seen running freely in front of houses in Houston, Texas.
The tiger was moving around, according to Houston police, and his male owner was accompanying him. Victor Hugo Cuevas was arrested again and charged with felony evading detention, according to the police. According to the police, Cuevas was suspected to be the tiger’s owner, but the accused’s attorney disputed such statements.
The tiger came face-to-face with an armed off-duty Waller County sheriff’s deputy, according to the footage of the incident.
Cuevas was yelled at by the deputy to get the animal back inside.
During the battle, no shots were fired.
Cuevas placed the tiger inside a white Jeep Cherokee and left when more cops arrived, Houston police Cmdr. Ron Borza said in a news conference on Monday, according to the Associated Press.
