The ongoing monolith mystery doesn’t seem to be nearing its end anytime soon.
A fourth monolith, similar to ones found in the US and Romania, has been discovered in England. The mysterious metal object was spotted by a local on the Isle of Wright off the south coast of the country.
The gleaming metal pillar was discovered by Tom Dunford, who was out walking his dog with his fiancee and sister, on the island’s Compton Beach on Sunday.
The witness said: “I knew about all the monolith stories recently, so I recognised it straightaway.” However, no one has come forward to claim responsibility for the metal installation so far.
Interestingly, a golden monolith has reportedly been found in an open field of Colombia. According to reports, it was spotted in Chia in the Colombian department of Cundinamarca.
While the previous monoliths were all silver in colour, this one is golden, prompting locals to wonder if this could be the main monolith that controls the rest.
However, the saga doesn’t end here.
Similar to the ones in Utah, Romania, California, Britain and Colombia, the Netherlands, too, has added its name to the list of places where the monolith has marked its place.
A group of hikers found a silver-coloured metal monolith at a private land near the Kiekenberg nature reserve in northern Friesland province.
As per local media, this structure looks similar in height and width to the other ones but is less shiny and quite dull.
Officials have not been able to find any traces of disruption in the area or information about its sudden appearance.
In mid-November, headlines were made when authorities spotted a mysterious shiny, metal monolith in the middle of Utah desert. In the following weeks, similar structures began popping up around the world, with one appearing in Romania and another in California.
Theories about their origins have ranged from a marketing ploy to extraterrestrials.
While it cannot yet be said who is responsible for each of the monoliths, the most famous artist collective in Sante Fe has claimed credit for the two statues found in the US and is selling three replicas for $45,000 each.
