Days after a schoolteacher was beheaded on the streets of Paris for showing cartoons of Prophet Mohammed to his students, an elementary school student in France has threatened his teacher saying: “I’ll cut you up like Samuel Paty,” a local French newspaper has reported.
According to reports, the history-geography teacher had shown students photos from the protests in response to an October attack on teacher Samuel Paty during a class discussion on freedom of expression when the pupil made the threat.
The “shocked” teacher then informed the principal. The La Grange du Bois college in Savigny-le-Temple management in turn informed the police, who detained the 14-year-old pupil.
A probe has been launched into the death threat of a civil servant in the performance of public service.
The student, however, defended his statement saying he was singing “a rap song about Samuel Paty” by a rapper named Maka. He was also found to be carrying an electric stun gun in his pocket.
Authorities haven’t considered the teenager as a terrorist threat but according to the cops, he had a reputation as a “provocateur and troublemaker” in school.
Paty was beheaded by an Islamist terrorist in a Paris suburb on October 16 for showing cartoons of Prophet Mohammed to his pupils during a lesson on freedom of expression.
The attack prompted a strong response from the Emmanuel Macron government, including the temporary closure of a mosque in Paris suburb and the plan to expel 231 radicalised foreign nationals
