Of late, Bollywood actors have been coming out and voicing their opinion on the ongoing farmers’ protest in Delhi. While many celebrities are lauding the decision of the government, others have been demanding for reforms in farm laws.
Joining the bandwagon, actor Sonakshi Sinha openly spoke against those who recently criticized Hollywood celebrities for extending their support to the agitating farmers. In a series of Instagram posts, she wrote: “The voices raised are about the violation of human rights, suppressions of free internet and expression, state propaganda, hate speech and abuse of power.”
She also stressed on many other issues in her posts that included harassment of journalists and the ban on the internet. She also said the protests are being disparaged by media and state for personal interests. The Bhuj actor wrote: “To re-iterate, news tonight will try to paint a picture that ‘outside forces’ are trying to meddle in the functioning of our country. Please don’t give in to that narrative. It’s human, standing up for other humans. THAT’S the narrative.”
For the unversed, most of the Bollywood celebrities are divided in their opinions regarding the farm laws. Actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, and others have faced backlash for supporting the statement given by the Ministry of External Affairs.
