The Duke of Sussex surprised the winners of the WellChild Awards 2021 by attending a private celebration in London in their honour with Ed Sheeran and Anne-Marie. The 36-year-old former senior royal assisted in honouring the charity’s amazing children and young people, as well as the healthcare personnel who care for them. Harry and Ed exchanged parenting notes before meeting the recipients of this year’s awards. After their 2-year-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Harry and Meghan Markle had their second child, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4. Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn, on the other hand, had their first child, a baby girl named Lyrca Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran in August 2020.
Harry said, “We’ve been lucky so far, she’s very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie is running around like crazy.” Ed joked about Harry still being “in the trenches now,” per Hello!, after congratulating The Duke on the birth of daughter Lili and updating Harry on his own little 10-month-old girl. The musician, who is 30 years old, couldn’t help but wonder how The Duke handles two children. “Two is definitely a juggle,” Harry responded.
Furthermore, a source close to Harry told Hello! that he was “extremely excited” to attend the event “in person” because WellChild is “one of the charities he’s supported for so long” and means a lot to him. “Perhaps now, more than ever, because he’s become a father,” the insider said. “Now as a father of two, I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild,” Harry added.
