In a fresh arrest in their drive against drug supply in Maharashtra and Goa, the Narcotics Control Bureau has arrested Tollywood actress Shweta Kumari.
The 27-year-old was arrested after the NCB’s raid at a hotel in Mumbai’s Mira Road.
A case under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been filed against the actress, according to Sameer Wankhede, NCB’s zonal director.
Earlier this month, the agency had searched Crown Business Hotel at Mira-Bhayander area and seized 400 grams of mephedrone worth over Rs 10 crore.
A systematic operational activity to apprehend the main peddlers and suppliers has been launched by the NCB.
A drug peddler, Chand Mohhamad, was caught red-handed while drug supplier Saeed went absconding, reports ANI.
Scores of celebrities across the entertainment industry have come under NCB’s scanner over the past year.
A-listers celebs such as Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Rhea Chakraborty and Sara Ali Khan among others have already been questioned by the agency.
Recently, director-producer Karan Johar was issued with a notice by the NCB in connection with the “Bollywood drugs nexus”.
