Donald Trump for the first time appeared to almost concede defeat in the US presidential elections by tweeting Joe Biden “won because the Election was Rigged”.
Reiterating the much-debunked claim of voter fraud, the Republic leader tweeted on Sunday: “He won because the Election was Rigged.. NO VOTE WATCHERS OR OBSERVERS allowed, vote tabulated by a Radical Left privately owned company, Dominion, with a bad reputation & bum equipment that couldn’t even qualify for Texas (which I won by a lot!), the Fake & Silent Media, & more!”
The move comes even as election officials said the voting was the “most secure in American history” and there was “no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes or was in any way compromised”.
Hours later while heading to his golf course in Virginia, Trump said: “I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go.”
Pressure is building up from both Biden’s team and within Trump’s party for the government to begin the transition process, which has already been delayed by the President’s refusal to accept defeat.
The Republic and his team are continuing to fight the election results ostensibly without any evidence, thereby impeding the transition process.
Trump has even hinted at a possible 2024 rerun, although there are doubts if Republic donors will financially back him.
The development comes amid violent clashes between Trump’s MAGA supporters and their counter protesters Antifa on the streets of Washington.
Demonstrations were carried out under “Stop the steal”, “March for Trump” and “Million MAGA march” in support of the Republican leader, alleging voter fraud and electoral malpractices. While on the other hand, Antifa activists thronged streets in a bid to uphold people’s mandate.
At least 20 people have reportedly been arrested till now.
