Forest officials managed to rescue a male leopard stranded helplessly within the clutches of barbed wire in a forest range of Uttarakhand. The laborious rescue operation lasted for a few hours before the big cat could be transported for medical assistance and later, release.
A video of the taxing rescue operation has surfaced online, where a group of forest officials tranquilize the male leopard at the Sahaspur Forest Range. After immobilizing him, they cover his face with a piece of fabric and place a net over him to restrain his movement. After successfully doing so, they begin to pull a wooden log to pieces that the wire was caught up in. After cutting through wire coiled around the body of the wild animal, the forest officials spray a disinfectant spray.
The wounded animal gave a tough time to the forest officials once it was liberated. It soon regained its senses and began to struggled to break free from a net draped around its body to restrain the agitated and dangerous animal. However, with appropriate help from the rangers, the animal was trapped inside a cage to be later released into the wild after medically inspecting it.
