Malaysian authorities have seized a Pakistan International Airlines Boeing-777plane at Kuala Lumpur on orders of a local court over the non-payment of lease dues owed to the AerCap.
PIA informed the London High Court that it has paid USD 7 million to an Irish jet company. A week after the plane was seized, it had around 170 passengers on board. Lawyers of PIA and airliner sought it out and hoped that the amount will be cleared without London High Court issuing any order against PIA.
The court informed that PIA didn’t pay dues for the last six months and the leasing company had filed a case against the PIA in London High Court In October 2020. As Covid-19 hit the world and it had seriously affected the aviation industry, there should be a reduction in the overhead charges.
In the London court, lawyers raised no objection about the seizure of its plane in Malaysia.
