Youth lands in trouble after bagging government job, abducted by kidnappers and forcibly married away.
Shivam Kumar, 20, was abducted by a group of five armed men at gunpoint when he was jogging along with his three friends near a railway crossing in Gangasarai village of Bihar’s Lakhisarai district.
Shivam, who was recently selected for the army, was taken to a temple in the adjourning Jamui district and forcefully married to a girl.
The incident triggered outrage among villagers and family members of the boy who blocked the Patna-Lakhisarai highway, while demanding Shivam’s safe return.
However, when the police investigated the case, it turned out that it was the case of love affair. Reportedly, Shivam also denied the kidnapping allegations and conceded to love affair as he urged his family to call off the protest.
Gangs kidnapping grooms for marriage is quite prevalent in the North, especially in rural belts.
Over a thousand cases of ‘Pakadwa Vivah’ (forced marriages) have come to light during the lockdown.
