Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 7 thanked PM Narendra Modi for announcing that the Centre will provide free COVID-19 vaccines to states for everyone above the age of 18 years from June 21.
“The Narendra Modi government has always worked with determination towards the safety and health of people,” he added.
“I thank PM Narendra Modi for the historic decision to provide free COVID vaccine to everyone above the age of 18 years across the country,” he said in a series of tweets.
It was an important step towards a COVID-free India, Shah told.
“The Central government now will also bear the responsibility of 25 per cent of the vaccination work which the states had. The states will not have to spend a rupee on the vaccine. With this, people will get the vaccine soon and the misconceptions related to it will also be put to an end,” the Union Home Minister added.
Odisha Chief minister Naveen Patnaik also welcomed PM announcement, he tweeted, “Every life is precious. No one is safe until everyone is vaccinated. As a nation we stand united in this fight against #Covid19 pandemic. Thank PM Shri @narendramodi ji for making vaccination a national mission.”
On May 7, Prime Minister Modi addressing the nation said that all vaccines will be procured by the Central government and will be given to states for free of cost.
