80-year-old Kanta Prasad, the owner of the famous Baba Ka Dhaba of Delhi, has been admitted to Safdarjung hospital after he tried to commit suicide on June 17 night.
The Police informed that they received a call from the hospital, they were told that one person had tried to commit suicide. Police reached the spot and found the man as Kanta Prasad. At present, his treatment is going on.
According to Kanta’s wife, he was under stress for the past few days. The couple recently moved out of their new restaurant and were running the old food stall again.
Reportedly, financial woes are the reason that Prasad tried to take his own life.
Kanta Prasad was earlier quoted saying, “The average monthly sales never crossed Rs 40,000. I had to bear all the losses. In hindsight, I feel we were wrongly advised to open a new restaurant. Of the total investment of Rs 5 lakh, we managed to recover only ₹36,000 from the sale of chairs, utensils, and cooking machines, after the restaurant shut down.” However, it is a little worrying he had mentioned that he saved the bulk of money that came in donations.
‘Baba ka Dhaba’ had gained popularity after YouTuber Gaurav Wasan pleaded for him and raised donations for the elderly couple who worked in a roadside dhaba.
