Kailash Vijayvargiya, Bharatiya Janata Party’s National General Secretary, credited Mamata Banerjee for the All India Trinamool Congress’s exceptional performance in the Bengal elections on Sunday.
Initially, he claimed that the inceptive trends are not the real indicators of the final result and showed faith in his party but later said that the BJP would be introspecting the poll results.
He further stated that he was surprised to see how BJP representatives Babul Supriyo and Locket Chatterjee’s support trailed and also received a call from Union Home minister Amit Shah regarding the party’s poor performance.
According to the trends available for 287 seats on the website of the Election Commission, the TMC led in 201 of the state’s 292 constituencies that went to polls against BJP’s 82. With this, the ruling TMC seems set to retain its power in West Bengal.
Moreover, while crediting Didi for the party’s win, Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “The TMC won because of Mamata Banerjee. It seems people have chosen Didi. We will introspect what went wrong, whether it was organizational issues, lack of face, insider-outsider debate. We will see what went wrong.”.
