India reported 46,148 new Covid-19 cases and 979 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on June 28.
For the first time in over two and half months that the death toll has come below the 1,000-mark and the 11th consecutive day in the last two months when the toll has been below the 2,000-mark.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 40,63,71,279 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to June 27 with 15,70,515 samples being tested on Sunday.
The active cases declined to 5,72,994 comprising 1.89 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.80 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed. A net decline of 13,409 cases has been recorded in the COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
So far, the country has recorded over 3.02 crore confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 3,96,730 deaths and a total of 2,93,09,607 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far.
