Police claimed on Sunday that three people, including a woman, had been arrested for making an offensive and indecent Facebook post on Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust general secretary Champat Rai.
Sanjay Bansal, a Bijnor resident who claims to be Champat Rai’s brother, has filed an FIR against the trio, according to Krishna Murari Dohre, the in-charge of the Nagina police station. Bansal said in his complaint that in a Facebook post, a man named Vineet made various unpleasant and insulting remarks about the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust’s general secretary. Bansal also attached a screenshot of Vineet’s Facebook post to his complaint, according to the SHO.
Bansal claimed in his complaint that when he called the phone number associated with the Facebook account, the individual who answered said the post was written on the orders of a woman from Nagina, according to the SHO. The complainant reportedly accused the individual who answered the phone of calling him names and threatening him, according to the SHO. AAP MP Sanjay Singh and other opposition figures have accused the trust general secretary of overpaying for land for the Ram temple premises in Ayodhya, but Rai has denied the claims.
The Ram Temple Trust announced on Monday that the foundation work for the temple in Ayodhya would be completed by October, indicating that the project, which is close to the hearts of the BJP and the RSS, is on track to have the ground floor of the temple ready by the time Uttar Pradesh goes to polls next year and the entire temple ready by the time the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
